public relations
Public Relations is the true face of the Texas Junior State. Without this incredible department, our organization would go unrecognized by media and by society. PR gives us a voice in the real world.
One of the most common grievances I come across in Texas JSAers is our outdated, difficult-to-use website. If elected, I will work with the Department of Public Relations to completely remodel and update our Texas JSA website and upload accurate information and useful guides to the page. This will create an accessible, simple platform for everyone to learn more about our state and for elected officials to distribute information effectively and efficiently.
The Department of Public Relations is also in charge of keynote speakers at conventions. While our keynote speakers are generally fascinating and wonderful to listen to, I would work to book high-profile speakers such as congressmen, prominent activists and leaders in science, business and politics. This will keep delegates engaged and give them unique opportunities to hear from the great minds of today.
While we have used social media in the past, it has never been an effective and interactive part of JSA. If elected, I will push for the revitalization of the "Humans of Texas JSA" page, which tells the stories of students throughout the state who have been affected by the Texas Junior State. I will also push for the expansion of our social media to include a Texas JSA Snapchat in addition to our already-active Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages. I will also help create a Texas JSA YouTube channel for convention promotional videos, moderator training videos, and more!
Chapter presidents and other JSA members who are not necessarily in cabinet but still want to publicize our organization are often at a loss when it comes to advertisements. If elected, I will work with the publicity department to create a JSA "Style Guide" full of fonts, colors, and design ideas to implement when publicising JSA for chapter meetings or any event.
