expansion
There are 3,709 high schools in Texas. There are 45 chapters in the Texas Junior State. While the Expansion department has done a fantastic job of reaching out to potential schools with intent to start new chapters, there is always more that can be done.
If I am elected, I will oversee the creation and distribution of chapter-starting packs to help schools begin their own JSA chapters. These packs will include a complete guide and introduction to JSA, a guide to establishing and running a new chapter, and contact information for Texas elected officials. This will ensure an easy, hassle-free process for establishing a new chapter.
I have spoken with students from schools without JSA about building a new chapter, and they have told me stories of confusion and red tape. As governor, I will push the expansion department to create an online form that potential chapter-starters can fill out requesting a chapter-starting pack and to be contacted by Texas JSA.
